ALEX

Like most of the others, Alex started out at the local fanfare where he played horn when he was 8 years old.
Relatively quickly he realized, that he did not like this instrument, and for the next 21 years he was hardly interested in playing music at all.
This changed in 2001 when one of his friends (Harm) suggested that he play at an open mic in Middelaar. Alex had an old Hohner harp, so he decided that he would play it. It did not take long to form a band for the occasion. One of the songs they had chosen to play was  Heart of Gold by Neil Young.
After several weeks of hard practise and much sweat, Alex managed to copy the harp parts. From that moment on, he knew that he wanted  to play the harmonica and play it for hours and hours to develop new skills and techniques. He visited all CD shops and searched for all the CDs he could find that had songs with blues harp: Guy Forsyth ,Terry Sonny, and many others. Alex played along to these artist, listening to them over and over.

In 2000 the bluesband Keetblues, was formed. After playing together for a year, Sjarl mentioned that a drummer that he knew wanted to start a new bluesband. This drummer was Léon Toonen, and the whole idea of this was music to Alex's ears. Not only would Alex be the frontman on harp, but he would also be the frontman on vocals as well.
He feels honered to be able to play with such experienced musicians and hopes to be able to keep playing together for a long time.

(Well Alex; so do we!!)
